Cold Science, Cosmic Chemistry, and Classroom Connections: A Journey Through Experimental Physics
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The trajectory of a scientific career often takes unexpected turns, shaped by curiosity, challenges, and the pursuit of understanding. In this talk, I will share my journey from experimental studies of ultracold atoms to the exploration of cold molecules and the chemistry of cold ions. These ventures bridge physical chemistry and astrochemistry, revealing insights into fundamental processes in the cosmos. Along the way, my focus shifted toward the human side of science, leading to physics education research aimed at transforming laboratory courses to inspire and empower students. Through this narrative, I will reflect on the connections between these diverse fields, the evolving questions that have driven my work, and the broader lessons learned about adaptability, collaboration, and innovation in scientific exploration.
