Bj Bjorken: The Joy of Exploration
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
James ("bj") Bjorken was one of the great theoretical physicists of the previous century. He is best known for "Bjorken scaling", which was the key to proving the quark and gluon structure of the proton. In this talk, I will describe this and other contributions to elementary particle physics, heavy-ion physics, and accelerator physics. Driven by the curiosity to explore new questions, he created illuminating pictures than continue to guide our understanding.
