DC Conductivity of Platinum At Liquid-Vapor Coexistence
ORAL
Abstract
Platinum (Pt) is a material standard used in high-pressure and shock compression experiments conducted on Sandia’s Z machine. Due to the current limitations of instrumentation technologies, the thermodynamic regimes relevant to Z are often inaccessible, leading to a reliance on ab initio theory. Here we present the DC electrical conductivity of Pt in the region of phase space near the liquid-vapor critical point. The DC conductivity is calculated using density functional theory with the Kubo Greenwood electrical conductivity approximation. SNL is managed and operated by NTESS under DOE NNSA contract DE-NA0003525.
