Time resolution study of a HDSoC Digitizer for PIONEER

Abstract
The PIONEER phase-1 goal is a 15-fold improved test of weak universality via an improved measurement of the decay ratio of pions to electrons over pions to muons. The ratio offers the most stringent test of electron-muon universality, and a substantial opportunity exists between the 1.5 ∗ 10−4 uncertainty, SM prediction and the 2.3 ∗ 10−3 uncertainty, current measurement.
The PIONEER project seeks to test the accuracy of the Standard Model by observing the decay of pions into associated electrons and muons with groundbreaking accuracy. These measurements could either reinforce current theoretical frameworks or reveal discrepancies that hint at new physics, such as undiscovered particles or interactions beyond the standard scales. The goal of this analysis was a determination of the timing resolution of the High Density System on-Chip (HDSoC) digitizer and its implications for the PIONEER silicon detector. Our preliminary analysis yielded an overall timing resolution of 130 ps (sigma).
