Reaching New Audiences By Injecting Physics into Culture
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
Physics outreach efforts are often designed to appeal to children and science-driven adults. A series of programs that are, instead, designed to reach a new adult demographic, one not driven to attend a physics lecture in their free time, will be described. This includes using dance floor electronic music to spread excitement for particle physics, sparking the imaginations of fiction writers with contemporary science, and interdisciplinary academic discourse and scholarship with the humanities. A recent series of public events in Tennessee, and the larger effort, will be described.
