Science Case for Positrons at Jefferson Lab
ORAL
Abstract
Jefferson Lab's CEBAF 12GeV polarized electron scattering program is now well underway with a rich multi-hall decadal physics program. As a future upgrade, the lab's accelerator scientists are now looking into the possibily of sending highly polarized positrons to the experimental halls. This plan builds on the succesful Polarized Electrons for Polarized Positrons (PEPPo) experiment which demonstrated the possibity of using a beam of polarized electrons for making a polarized postrion source. This talk will give an overview of the planned polarized positron source for CEBAF as well as give an overview of the positron experiments that have been approved by the Jefferson Lab Program Advisory Committee.
