A simple fibre optic based time of arrival sensor.

Abstract
A simple design for a fibre optic based time of arrival diagnostic for shock physics experiments has been developed. The probes have been fielded on several gas gun experiments and compared with results from heterodyne velocimetry measurements. Further experiments have subsequently been performed whereby arrays of the optical time of arrival probes were used to determine both detonation velocity and detonation front waveshape on a simple high explosive experiment.
