Dynamic Compaction of Mixtures
POSTER
Abstract
Current work in the planetary impact community models surfaces as single components. However, they are instead multi-component mixtures with broad distributions of particle sizes. Here we seek to test the models for the means of mixing the compaction models of single component systems. We will use tungsten carbide and copper as end-members on the effect of material strength in testing the mixture of compaction models. Here we will present on the design of upcoming shock-wave experiments at the gas gun facility at the University of Nevada Reno.
