Detection of Multiply Coincident Cosmic Ray Muons
ORAL
Abstract
The Cosmic Watch project [Axani et al., 2018] was created to provide a low cost, beginner friendly way to perform muon detection experiments. We aim to build on this project by implementing a more sophisticated system of muon detectors that can teach us more about cosmic ray showers by incorporating multiple-coincidence detection. As a first step, we demonstrate an improved pair-coincidence mode using the existing Cosmic Watch hardware. The improved mode allows for analysis of coincident versus non-coincident signals without an external clock and forms the basis for future multiple-coincidence analysis with an array of several Cosmic Watch detector units.
