Nanophotonics with high refractive index materials
ORAL
Abstract
The field of nano-optics is usually associated with plasmonic structures made of noble metals in order to enhance electromagnetic fields at the nanoscale. However, the extensive Joule losses associated with noble metals have always been challenges that limit the efficiency of optical device. In this regard, Mie resonances of high-index dielectric nanostructures offer unique opportunities for reduced dissipative losses and large resonant enhancement of both electric and magnetic near-fields. In this review, I will present the basics of nanophotonic phenomena in high-index dielectric nanostructures, and discuss some of the results related to selective excitation of multipolar resonances and excitation of optical anapoles in these structures that our group obtained recently.
