Working Effectively with University Administrators

ORAL

Abstract

How is that we, working in the classroom and directly with students and teachers, align and coordinate our efforts with administrative priorities? Vice versa: how can we align institutional priorities with our charter commitments to educate students and serve the regions in which our institutions are housed? This panel workshop will begin with each panelist briefly discussing how we coordinate the challenges and opportunities we face with those of our administration. We will discuss both vital forms of communication and the most effective way to utilize them. We will then break into small groups to work on the issues most vital for the participants. We will report out, including ideas that can be shared broadly in the coalition, such as types of data and graphs programs have found useful when communicating the need for or successes of PhysTEC. The resulting resource will support efforts so that each campus does not have to ``reinvent the wheel.''
