Recruiting and Supporting URM Students to Physics Programs

ORAL

Abstract

Panelists include physics faculty from minority-serving (MSI) and urban-serving institutions who will share their perspectives and experiences in building undergraduate physics programs that attract and retain underrepresented minority (URM) students. Each panelist will discuss their program, including specific practices and activities that have contributed to establishing a thriving undergraduate physics program for all students. The discussion will also include identifying program elements that support students at MSIs and how aspects might translate to predominantly white institutions. A question and answer period will allow for further discussion.
