New Phys21 Report: Building Career Readiness into Your Department Culture

Abstract

In 2016 the Joint APS/AAPT Task Force on undergraduate physics programs completed their work on a \underline {report} to help physics departments prepare their students for 21st century careers. The task force considered practical ways to engage faculty and department leaders in considering the range of skills necessary to help their majors get their first job, and continue in a rewarding career. This session will describe findings from the report, and also feature how recommendations impact departmental policies and practices with an eye to applying suggestions to improving preparation of pre-service high school physics teachers.
