Unmagnetized Rotating Yukawa Ring in a Dusty Plasma
POSTER
Abstract
A strongly coupled unmagnetized 1-D dust ring interacting through a Yukawa potential is created experimentally. Radial confinement is provided by a groove with a center pedestal. The dust particles rotate within the ring shaped potential well even though drag forces are present and there is no readily identifiable driving force. The rotation rate of the ring is measured and possible driving forces for rotation are examined.
