Understanding Students' Racial Experiences in College STEM and Developing Racial Competence.
ORAL
Abstract
In this workshop, we will engage in learning, action, and reflection around race and racism. We will support participants in examining educational spaces through the lenses of race and ethnicity. We aim to examine how our experiences learning and doing physics have been racialized, from individual/interpersonal biases to systemic/structural aspects of institutions. We will end by exploring possibilities for action within our mentoring roles and institutional contexts.
