The Electric Polarizability of a Model J/psi Hamiltonian
ORAL
Abstract
The response of a neutral system to an external electric field is described in terms of the electric polarizability. The electric polarizability can rarely be computed exactly except in special cases such as the Hydrogen atom. However, it is possible to formulate rigorous lower and upper bounds for atomic systems which can help narrow down the exact electric polarizability. In this presentation a method for computing these bounds is reviewed and applied to a mesonic system, namely to the computation of the electric polarizability of J/Psi which is experimentally not known.
