Time-Dependent UV-Induced Dynamics in 3-Bromothiophene

POSTER

Abstract

We will present a study in the time-resolved ultrafast nuclear dynamics in 3-Bromothiophene (3-C4H3BrS), observed using a combination of UV (240nm)-IR (800nm) pump-probe spectroscopy and coincident Coulomb explosion imaging. From the data, we identify two- and three- body molecular fragmentation channels, which exhibits a wide variety of dynamics ranging from direct bromine dissociation to molecular ring-opening. Additionally, the ring-opening channel shows evidence of a unique feature in the kinetic energy release spectrum, which does not resemble the typical time-dependent Coulomb repulsive behavior. We will conclude our presentation by proposing further analysis methods to be used to identify the origin of this behavior.
