In-situ Antenna and Signal Chain Calibration for Radio Neutrino Observatory
ORAL
Abstract
The Radio Neutrino Observatory in Greenland (RNO-G), located at the Summit Station, is designed to detect coherent radio signal generated by charge excess in particle cascades induced by Ultra High Energy (UHE) Neutrinos in dense media. UHE Neutrinos have small interaction cross section and are electrically neutral, which make them ideal for pointing back to the source. To achieve high accuracy reconstruction of neutrinos properties like direction and energy, antenna response and the entire signal chain of the radio system must be unfolded from voltage traces in order to obtain electric field vector at each antenna. This work presents possible in-situ calibration scheme of vertically polarized dipole antennas deployed in ice for RNO-G utilizing stationary deep calibration pulser.
