Distinguishing Beyond-Standard Model Neutrino Physics in Light of AGN Modeling Uncertainties

ORAL

Abstract

Identification of high-energy neutrino point sources by IceCube is exciting, not only for astrophysics but also for particle phenomenology. Propagation of neutrinos over large distances can allow tests of properties that are hard to access in other ways. However, beyond-Standard Model effects would often show up as distortions of the energy spectrum, which makes it difficult to distinguish new physics from uncertainties in the source modeling. In this talk, I will describe ongoing work to determine how well future observations of active galactic nuclei (AGN) neutrino emissions could distinguish effects of neutrino self-interactions from a baseline AGN model, and I will present preliminary results.
