Sailing Leidenfrost droplets on superheated granular layer
ORAL
Abstract
A droplet deposited on a superheated granular layer may sail away from the deposited position. We characterize the sailing motion for a wide range of particle sizes and liquid properties. We provide a theoretical model to explain the sailing motion based on instability of pressure distribution at the bottom of the droplet and experimental verification of the model.
