Accelerating energy materials discovery in practice

Data science, AI, and autonomy underlie new capabilities for the design and discovery of new materials. However, in many cases it is not clear if these capabilities accelerate the development of new materials in an industry setting. In this talk, I review difficulties in benchmarking and achieving acceleration, and highlight our research aimed at predicting synthesis, making simulation more efficient, and developing new representations of materials.
