Evolutionary dynamics of homeostasis mechanisms
ORAL
Abstract
Homeostasis mechanisms exist in many different forms across biological systems. What are the basic principles that govern their evolution? This talk examines this question using simulations and theory. We analyze simple models of homeostasis that maintain trait values within specific ranges, and determine when such mechanisms are evolutionarily advantageous. Potential applications to experiments will be discussed.
