A mathematically-derived formula revealing the fundamental nature of the Doppler Effect, Cosmological Red-shift and Cherenkov radiation

ORAL

Abstract

The well-established principle of the constancy of the velocity of light can be mathematically represented with the general equation O(to)-S(ts)=c(to-ts). Based solely on this equation without including any other assumptions, a comprehensive set of ground-breaking results was derived solely through strict mathematics, which is named “Asymmetry Theory”.

Included this theory, one single formula explains the fundamental nature of the Doppler Effect, Cosmological red-shift and Cherenkov radiation, which is the time scaling factor between the light emission time and observation time. While the Doppler effect was well known for century, many different formulas are required to fit different scenarios and none works for the scenario of time-varied velocity, which indicates that we might not fully understand its nature yet. This mathematically derived general formula clearly explains the nature of Doppler effect and hence, applies to all scenarios including the time-varied velocity case. The application of this time-varied Doppler effect in Astronomy is important. For example, we now have a more comprehensive analysis of the data behind the Hubble’s law. Traditionally, the Cosmological red-shift was regarded as a different phenomenon from the Doppler effect. By mathematically deriving the Cosmological red-shift equation from this exactly same general formula in Asymmetry theory, we show that they are the same in nature. Furthermore, the emission angle of Cherenkov radiation is now a straightforward mathematical derivation from this same general formula instead of ad-hoc explanation.

In summary, Asymmetry Theory provides a single-unified and mathematically-derived formula for the Doppler Effect, Red-shift and Cherenkov radiation, which explains their fundamental nature. Furthermore, Asymmetry Theory is in harmony with all proven experiments and provides mathematical derivation of key physical phenomenon, such as Stellar aberration, Sagnac effect, Mass-Energy relationship, Electron Relativistic Mass Variations… It was also theoretically proven by the Maxwell’s equation. Two experiments were designed to test its validity by checking its predictions against other theory.
