Multiphysics Simulation of Thermoelectric material (GST225)

POSTER

Abstract

Thermoelectric (TE) generators are non-mechanical low maintenance systems that convert heat directly into electricity with essentially no or little side effects or pollution, additionally they are extremely compact. The germanium based compounds, GeSbTe (GST) and other ternary systems hold the potential as high efficiency thermoelectric materials. It is very important to study the thermal and electrical properties of materials in order to fine new thermoelectric materials. COMSOL Multiphysics is comprehensive simulation software. It allows calculations of electrical and thermal profiles in different geometries with temperature dependent material properties. We use COMSOL to find out the temperature distribution in GST225 sample. The simulation results of other properties of GST225 will be presented.
