James C. McGroddy Prize for New Materials Winner: Twist-Controlled van der Waals Heterostructures
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The advent of van der Waals heterostructures of two-dimensional (2D) materials has added a new tool to electronic materials design, namely that of controlling the relative angle between different 2D materials in a heterostructure, which in turn has opened new avenues to tailor interaction and topology. This presentation will describe experimental advances in the realization of twist-controlled van der Waals heterostructures of 2D materials, with examples from rotationally aligned double layers and twist-controlled moiré patterns of graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides.
