Beyond the Laboratory: Working at the Interface of Science, Politics, and International Affairs

Abstract

The speaker will discuss career opportunities beyond laboratory research, highlighting how scientists can work at the interface of science, government, and international affairs to address challenges that include scientific, economic, international, and political issues. The speaker will use case studies from her own career, having served in the private sector, in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and now as Director of International Affairs for the American Physical Society, where she develops international scientific exchanges, collaborations, and partnerships with physicists across the globe.
