Where the Circus Meets Physics
ORAL
Abstract
The opening reception will feature some of the city’s most talented acrobats and circus artists. As you mingle with your colleagues, these performers will roam amongst you, putting their talent on display throughout the event space and infusing their art with physics-based themes. Witness Xiau-Ling Wee and Barnaby Llewellyn in their graceful partner acrobatics, perhaps like subatomic particles forming a whole or stellar mergers, gliding and pirouetting through the air; Nata Ibragimov with her tantalizing hula hoops, Christopher Stoinev with his mesmerizing juggling---do they spin, superpose, form lattices, entangle?; Yuko Hata, in her captivating contortions and hand balance, perhaps as molecular motors or folding of life fragments. Together, rising and celebrating with you in taking physics to new heights.
