Mixed state dynamics in a random quantum channel
ORAL
Abstract
Generic open quantum systems will become thermalized due to interactions with the environment. Here, as a minimal model, we considered the mixed state dynamics for a qudit chain under a random depolarization channel. We find that the system reaches thermalization within a system-independent time scale. As a result, various correlation and entanglement measures obey an area law: the maximal value is bounded by the boundary instead of the volume.
