Ultrafast Mid-Infrared-Pump Optical-Probe Spectroscopy of Insulating La2CuO4
ORAL
Abstract
We report on the excitation of coherent acoustic phonons (CAP) in the Mott insulator La2CuO4 using intense ultrafast mid infrared laser pulses measured by changes in the reflectivity (at 800 nm) as a function of pump-probe delay. In this talk, we will discuss the possible mechanisms that enable a below gap CAP excitation. We also look toward implementing this more generally as a probe of low energy dynamics in quantum materials.
