I-V characteristics of SNS Junctions
ORAL
Abstract
We develop a theory of the I-V characteristics of superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) junctions. At sufficiently small voltages the conductivity can be expressed in terms of the superconducting phase dependence of the density of states in the normal region of the junction. In this regime, the conductivity isproportional to the inelastic relaxation time which, in typical situations, is much larger than the elastic one. At large voltages the conductivity of the junction is proportional to the elasticrelaxation time. In the presence of parallel to the film magnetic field and Rashba spin-orbit coupling the I-V characteristics of the junction has a part which is linear in the magnetic field and even in applied voltage.
