Adiabatic controlled-phase gate with fixed-frequency qubits enabled by tunable coupler

Abstract


A recent work (Xu et al. arxiv:2006.11860) has demonstrated a simple, high-fidelity controlled-phase gate by using fixed-frequency qubits with a tunable coupler. In this talk, we present the theoretical framework of this two-qubit gate scheme, discussing the process of controlling longitudinal coupling strength by modulating the coupler frequency. Associated non-adiabatic and decoherence effects are also discussed. Finally, we explain how to attain better gate performance by optimizing the circuit design and pulsing.
