Textured one-dimensional superconducting nanostructures

ORAL

Abstract

We have fabricated one-dimensional superconducting nanostructures with precisely controlled texture. The fabrication method that combines nanoscale shadow mask deposition with in situ controlled etching allows nanoscale features to be drawn directly onto the substrate. By controlling the speed with which the shadow mask is translated over the substrate, we can vary the thickness of the nanostructure as it is being deposited. The thickness modulation allows us to control the shape of the superconducting wavefunction in these nanostructured wires, which can be detected in electrical transport measurements at low temperatures and in magnetic field.
