Using direct measurement videos to teach physics

ORAL

Abstract

The video format has many advantages over written texts. For this reason we have been working to create a library of short, high-quality videos of real situations that allow students to directly analyze and measure the phenomenon. In this talk I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of video as compared to written material and hands-on labs, and will share highlights from our library. A library of our videos can be found here: http://serc.carleton.edu/sp/library/direct\textunderscore measurement\textunderscore video/video\textunderscore library.html
