Scientific publication: An alternative career in physics

Scientific research could not go forward without scientific dissemination and publication of research results. As a member of the editorial staff of Physical Review Letters, I hope to be able to shed some light on the nature of the role of APS journal editors in the publication process, what the job entails and field questions on this alternative career in science.
