Magnetization induced by an acoustic wave

Abstract

We predict that in a semiconductor with a Rashba-type spin-orbit coupling to strain, an acoustic wave will induce a wave of magnetization. We study the effect in the ballistic and diffusive regime, and we estimate its magnitude.
