Topological defects, ``magnetic charges'' and coherence in dipolar condensates

ORAL

Abstract

The current progress in fabrication technology raised the expectation for the creation of excitonic condensates in semiconductor bilayers. We discuss an effective model for such bilayers and topological defects paying special attention to dynamics of the gauge field. We also discuss different physical systems which allow generalizations of the concept of dipolar superfluidity
