Validating Rivet Analyses Using MC Event Generators
POSTER
Abstract
Rivet (Robust Independent Validation of Experiment and Theory) is a software framework that allows for direct comparisons between experimental data and Monte Carlo event generators, like PYTHIA and Jet Energy-loss Tomography with a Statistically and Computationally Advanced Program Envelope (JETSCAPE), in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Variations between Rivet analyses of real-world data and models can be used to determine which aspects of heavy ion collisions are described well by models and where our models need improvement. PYTHIA is a Monte Carlo event generator based on the Lund String Model, which was originally developed to describe e+e- and pp collisions. It was extended to include heavy ion collisions, like AuAu and PbPb, with PYTHIA Angantyr. JETSCAPE models partonic energy loss in a hydrodynamical medium. We will show comparisons between data and these models using Rivet.
