Theoretical overview of the QCD critical point search

Abstract
Mapping QCD phase diagram and determining the physics of its phases and phase transitions is a major goal of heavy-ion collision experiments. QCD critical point is a crucial landmark on the QCD phase diagram. The search for this point in heavy-ion collisions requires quantitative understanding of the physics near criticality, in particular, of the critical fluctuations and their dynamics in the expanding fireball. Recent progress in the development of the theoretical framework necessary for the discovery of the QCD critical point signatures will be reviewed in this talk.
