Effects of nonextensivity on the resonant instability for ion-acoustic surface waves in a semi-bounded quantum plasma

POSTER

Abstract

The effects of nonextensivity on the resonant instability of ion-acoustic surface waves propagating on the surface of semi-bounded plasma consisting of nondegenerating electrons and ion streaming are kinetically investigated. The electron quantum recoil effect is included in the dispersion relation. We adopt a nonextensive distribution function which consist of q parameter in the context of Tsallis statistics to obtain an expression for the growth rate for the ion-acoustic waves in a nonthermal quantum plasma. We show that the superextensive (q<1) electrons enhances the resonant instability while the subextensive (q>1) electrons suppresses it. To investigate the effect of electron quantum recoil, the plasmon energy is introduced in the calculation. The resonant instability is found to be suppressed as the ratio of plasmon energy to thermal energy increases.
