Dissociation of Molecules by Low Energy Electron Impact
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
Reactions involving electron impact with polyatomic systems are present in many areas of science, such as astrophysics, biology, chemistry, atmospheric, and plasma science. In this talk, I will present our quantum theoretical methods, based on ab initio and nuclear dynamics calculations, to describe vibrational excitation and dissociative electron attachment processes to molecules relevant for interstellar and atmospheric chemistry. Comparison with experimental cross sections and momentum imaging techniques allow us to test our theoretical predictions and obtain insights into these complex processes.
