Using Optics and Fluid Mechanics for Biophysical Research

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

A variety of experimental and conceptual tools developed by the Physics community can significantly contribute towards biomedical research and improved clinical treatments. Although Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is perhaps the most well-known example, physicists working at the forefront of biomedical research continue to develop and apply new tools to better understand biological systems and, often by collaborating with Physicians, generate significant new results that work towards clinical applications. In this presentation, I will focus on Optics and Fluid Mechanics and discuss how these fields of study are being used to improve human health.
