Decarbonization Pathways in Transportation
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
Transportation is the sector responsible for the most greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, recently passing the electricity sector. This talk will discuss why the transportation sector is so carbon intensive and technologies that can be used to reduce these emissions. Energy sources to be discussed include liquid fuels from petroleum and bioenergy, hydrogen, and electricity. For different applications, including passenger vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, and off-road vehicles, this talk will explore operational requirements and the benefits and costs of advanced technologies.
