First results of opacity measurements of Fe using OpSpecTR

ORAL

Abstract

We show the first results of time-resolved opacity data for Fe/Mg acquired using the new OpSpecTR diagnostic at Anchor 1 conditions. An important component of this first set of shots was the development of a timing fiducial target (Amulet of Time) for understanding when the different frames of the hCMOS triggered relative to start of laser drive. Successful results with OpSpecTR are critical to achieve Anchor 2 on NIF due to the improved data fidelity and reduced backgrounds possible with hCMOS as compared to image plate used in time-integrated OpSpec.
