Thea Energy's Roadmap to Fusion Energy
POSTER
Abstract
Thea Energy, Inc. is advancing the stellarator on a path to commercial fusion energy. In particular, we have developed a unique, proprietary technology that employs a concept referred to as the planar coil stellarator (U.S. Patent No. 12,100,520). This novel technology concept was recently described at the proof-of-principle level in a publication [1]. There are several steps on our roadmap that will lead to the rapid deployment of this new concept. These are: 1) technology prototyping, 2) The “Eos” integrated stellarator system, and 3) the “Helios” Fusion Pilot Plant (FPP). Each of these development stages will be described. Progress to date includes the construction and operation of the world’s first high-temperature superconducting magnet array, referred to as “Canis” [2]. Detailed analysis of the planned Helios FPP will also be presented. Eos is a large-scale stellarator that will produce fusion energy in steady state, operate as a deuterium-deuterium neutron source, and de-risk Helios [3].
