Quasiaxisymmetric stellarators optimized for MHD stability
POSTER
Abstract
In recent years, tremenduous progress has been made in optimizing stellarators for quasisymmetry and other desirable properties such as various magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stability proxies. We here present a number of quasiaxisymmetric stellarators optimized for various MHD stability proxies, self-consistent bootstrap current, and to have rotational transform profiles that avoid crossing low-order rationals.
In order to verify the efficacy of the MHD proxies, nonlinear MHD stability calculations will be performed. The results will inform to which extent linear stability proxies correlate with the nonlinear stability and saturation amplitudes.
