Electron-positron cascade in magnetospheres of supermassive Kerr black holes and the origin of relativistic AGN jets
POSTER
Abstract
The avalanche mechanism of plasma production in active galactic nuclei (AGN) is detailed. Constraints on the system parameters needed for the efficient pair cascade are obtained. Whether or not an AGN fits in this parameter range may explain the observed the radio-loud vs. radio-quiet dichotomy of galaxies. Comparison with data on 3C120 source shows that the avalanche mechanism is too weak to explain the observed pair production rate.
