YWC West: An expansion of the Young Women’s Conference in STEM

The Young Women's Conference in STEM has achieved a successful milestone with its recent expansion, highlighting our commitment to empowering young women in the STEM fields.. Originally a regional event, the conference has expanded to the San Diego area, attracting more participants from diverse locations and backgrounds. This expansion was driven by strategic partnerships with educational institutions and STEM organizations, which provided crucial resources and support.

In this poster we will present on the inaugural YWC West, where we welcomed over 300 local participants. We will highlight the challenges that need to be overcome to successfully run a public engagement event of this nature as well as plans to expand the conference to other regions nationwide. The success of this pilot expansion not only amplifies the conference's reach, but also reinforces its mission to break down barriers and promote gender equity in STEM disciplines.
