Exploring Plasma Confinement in Tokamaks: Computational Modules for Undergraduate Students
POSTER
Abstract
This work presents a set of computational exercises in VPython designed to help undergraduate students understand particle motion in nonuniform magnetic fields. These modules enable students to grasp the operational principles of a tokamak and simulate the effects of its magnetic field configuration on particle trajectories. VPython is a programming language based on Python that creates 3D animations accessible in a browser without software installation. These modules can be integrated into undergraduate courses on electromagnetic theory or plasma physics to explore nonuniform magnetic fields, particle drifts, and charged particle motion, enhancing students' understanding of tokamak confinement and particle dynamics.
