Detecting ELM originated by sawtooth
POSTER
Abstract
Edge localized mode (ELM) in a tokamak can damage the wall severely. It can even break the whole machine if the machine size is comparable to or bigger than the ITER. To deal with the issue, the adaptive ELM controller with RMP which suppresses ELM while optimizing the performance of the plasma has been developed by our group and showed notable results at KSTAR. Since the current controller has a limited ability to suppress ELM originated by sawtooth, we will study how prevalent sawtooth is presented to cause ELM.
