Diagnostics for highly relativistic laser solid interactions of 400nm light

POSTER

Abstract

Laser solid density interactions were experimentally investigated with the 400 nm ALEPH laser at intensities exceeding 10^21 Wcm^-2. To gain a better understanding of the particle acceleration, radiation generation, and plasma dynamics in the interaction a wide variety of diagnostics were employed. A Von Hamos spectrometer was used to measure x-rays from multiple angles. Proton spectra was recorded. An Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometer was employed to measure the soft x-ray spectra. Magnetic electron spectrometers were positioned around the interaction. The results of each diagnostic were compared with simulated profiles using particle-in-cell codes.
